"The Silent Witness" Synopsis

Produced in 1978 "The Silent Witness" was the first in-depth, successful documentary on the Shroud of Turin. Narrated by award-winning British actor Kenneth More, "The Silent Witness" won a British Academy Award for its deep coverage of the history of the Shroud. In addition, it attempts to answer the question of where and how the Shroud was hidden during its missing years. While this film is lacking in the deep scientific study that has since been performed on the Shroud of Turin, it will give the viewer a good foundational study of the Shroud's mystery and history, which will be of great advantage when viewing the Collection's other films. "The Silent Witness" is fifty-three minutes long, and is available to view only in English.

"The Shroud of Turin Material Evidence" Synopsis

Twenty years after the 1988 Carbon-14 dating that came to the conclusion the Shroud of Turin was a medieval fake "Shroud of Turin Material Evidence" explores new evidence that could prove that test wrong. When condemned as a hoax in 1988 numerous experiments were performed to replicate the image on the Shroud, yet every attempt failed, and in this documentary attempts to discover what it is about the image that cannot be replicated. With new scientific, forensic, medical, archaeological, 3D analysis, and art evidence in the light, this film reveals whether or not the C14 dating could have lied, and if the Shroud could once again become a contender as Jesus' burial cloth. Professor Christopher Ramsey who did the original C14 test conducts new tests, and the results are revealed in the documentary. In addition, this is the first documentary to have high definition films of the Shroud. This hour-long documentary is narrated by Rageh Omaar and is available only in English.

"Shroud" Synopsis

This documentary produced in 2010 expands on the new studies and evidence surrounding the shroud since the 2008 film. The "Shroud" was the official film of the 2010 Exposition of the Shroud of Turin. In addition to exploring ongoing scientific and historical research on the Shroud, this documentary explores more of the religious context, background, and significance of the Shroud than the previous two films did. The technological presentation of the Shroud and its story are of better in quality in this version than the previous films due to its later production date. "Shroud" has a run time of 48 minutes and is available in seven languages - English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Russian.
